About Kim

Hi, my name is Kim Murphy, and I own The Seabrook Yoga Room here in Seabrook, NH. I grew up right over the border in Byfield, MA, but my favorite summer spot was the Salisbury/Seabrook Line. There was nothing better than a beautiful day on Seabrook Beach.

After Byfield, I attended the University of Florida, and then moved to Los Angeles where I discovered yoga. I injured my sciatic nerve running. It was painful! But even before that I was in an unending battle with my body. I did not like what I saw in the mirror, I exercised constantly and lived in a binge-starve eating cycle.

Yoga changed everything... It did not happen overnight; it was not easy. Regardless, I began to change my focus from the outside in to the inside out. Yoga provided practical tools to live comfortably in my body, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. With each inhale and exhale, I became more aware of my body's sensations during my practice. The poses themselves became tools, guiding me to move in a way that felt both new and deeply connected. I was stiff as a board before yoga - I could not even touch my toes. I was 27 years old. Despite all of that, by just showing up on my mat, things changed for the better.

In Los Angeles, I studied with a lot of amazing teachers. I studied privately Annie Carpenter, of Yoga Works. I received my yoga therapy five hundred hour with Larry Payne. I was fortunate enough to teach at Santa Monica Power Yoga, and Harmony Yoga in Redondo. I also instructed at Sony Studios, Paradigm Treatment Centers, as well as one on one with in home clients. In other words, if someone wanted to do yoga, I was there!

After almost 30 years and many changes in California, I decided to return to my roots and bring yoga home with me. After what I saw happen in California, I wanted to live in the freedom-minded state of New Hampshire. When I am not teaching yoga or home schooling my thirteen-year-old daughter, I also enjoy utilizing my amazing Seabrook beach parking pass. Where you will find me walking the beach practicing yoga.

Yoga has been a game-changer for me. I know I would be battling debilitating pain without it. It is a powerful tool which is why I believe in its transformative potential for others.
